i. The rails should be erected in a purpose to guarantee the safety operation of the gantry crane. This requires a solid soil foundation under the rails, providing the sufficient box girder gantry cranebearing capacity. There should not be any water accumulation softening the soil foundation. In case the gantry is used for long time with high load, it is recommended to make a concrete foundation and to pre-lay the bolts and cover and fix the steel plates on the concrete surface.
ii. The span of the rails shall be the same as that of the gantry crane. The maximum longitudinal slope is 1%. If higher than this value, the drive power of gantry and the stability of the whole machine should be inspected. In case the inspection results are not satisfied, the slope should be adjusted. The top surfaces of the rails of both sides should be in a same level. The connectors of the rails should be made smooth to enable a stable travel of the gantry. Travel spacing devices should be available on both ends of the rail. The detailed requirements of installation of the travel rails of gantry are as follows:
