How to Check the Main Parts of Gantry Crane
 

1. Does reducer have oil leakage?

If there is abnormal noise when in runtime, you need to open the case cover to check it. In general, the reasons are as following:

a. Bearing is broken.
b. Backlash of wheel gear is too big.
c. The wear of tooth surface is serious. 

2. Is the braking in good condition?

a. Brake is an important part for a gantry crane, which can decide whether the machine can run accurately. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the brake for raising and trolleying condition, aperture of braking slipper and wear of friction elements (such as brake rubber block)
b. As for band brake, you should notice whether steel backing of the brake band has crack, whether the transmission is flexible, whether the brake shelf is intact, and whether the elasticity of main and assistant spring meets the demand.

3. Is there steel wire rope in abnormal?

a. Whether in fractured, wearing, kinky or rusted, it is the most important aspect to observe steel wire rope.
b. If there is something serious but has not yet been out of gauge, you had better mark it right now and inspect it in the future.
c. In addition, you should pay more attention to whether safety limiting stopper in winding drum is valid, whether pressing plates on the winding drum are hold down tightly, whether the number of pressing plates is right.

4. Is pulley in excellent?

It is a key point that whether abrasion loss at the bottom is out of gauge and whether there exist cracks on the cast-ironed pulley. Balance wheels of pulley block in luffing system may be overlooked easily because they always keep still. Therefore, it is necessary to check its flexibility. Otherwise, length and tension of steel wire rope can’t adjust itself by balance wheels. On this occasion, risk and dangerous to adjust pitching rope will be added.

5. Is shaft coupling loose?

You should check the abrasion of elastic rubber ring in elastic pin coupling, especially gear tooth and ring. Lacking in accurate installation will lead to large offsets between two shafts, which shows up as entire gear ring in sign of wear of tear. Under such a situation for an elevator machine, it may cause serious accident.
