Steel structure is the most important component for hoist machinery such as gantry crane and bridge crane. Main structure of gantry crane and bridge launcher is welded by steel. There are all kinds of steel, which can be divided into types as following:

 
1. Sheet steel. 
Sheet steel can be divided into light plate and heavy plate according to their thickness, which specification is indicated with mm. Thickness of light plate ranges from 4.5mm to 60mm and heavy plate from 0.35mm to 4mm. Sheet steel is always used for box girder and outrigger of gantry crane and bridge girder launcher.
 
2. Tube steel.
Tube steel can be divided into seamless and leaky steel based on production mode. Seamless tube steel can be explained with “external diameter (Φ) * thickness (mm)”. Tube steel is widely used for outrigger fabrication of gantry crane.
 
3. Sectional steel.
Sectional steel include angle steel, U-steel, joist steel, round bar steel, square steel, hexagonal steel, steel rail and special shaped steel. Sectional steel can be used for any part of gantry crane and bridge crane.
